A lathe is a machine tool which spins a block of material to perform various operations such as cutting, sanding, knurling, drilling, or deformation with tools that are applied to the work piece to create an object which has symmetry about an axis of rotation.
The EDM process is most widely used by the mold-making tool and die industries, but is becoming a common method of making prototype and production parts, especially in the aerospace, automobile and electronics industries in which production quantities are relatively low. In ram EDM, a graphite or beryllium copper electrode is machined into the desired (negative) shape and fed into the work piece on the end of a vertical ram. Cylindrical grinding is grinding of work pieces in individual and small series production operations. It is ideal in all sectors where medium-sized precision components are produced.
