Land & General Berhad was incorporated in Malaysia on 21 May 1964 under the name of Nanyang Holdings Sdn. Bhd. and changed its name to General Lumber (Holding) Berhad and converted to a public limited company on 7 October 1968. The shares were listed on the then Stock Exchange of Kuala Lumpur and Singapore on 14 November 1968.
